Home Insurance - Buildings & Contents?

Its home insurance renewal at the same time and i've got the hump with Lloyds TSB up to the back teeth. Anyone got any comments about good \ bad in surance companies - value for loot / performance etc. Thanks

Answer: Most are cute competetive - try Tesco or Nationwide - get 3 quotes and play them against each other.

Cheap Quote For Home Contents Insurance For Tenants In Common.?

A angel and I have recently purchased a flat together as tenants in common. We only need home contents insurance. Buildings insurance is joint with other flats in the lump. Our current quote is £25 per month with Nationwide. We would like to know other companies who step this type of insurance to see if we can get it any cheaper. n.b Confused.com does not allow tenants in common in their search.

Thanks
Note

Answer: Hi emblem, Im a tenant in common and have insurance with Nationwide. I am not aware if TIC differs from other policies, married couples, for illustration. After all, its only the contents that are being insured.

I pay for a buildings and contents policy so I am covered, however, the insurance company are charging me two seperate excess fees. £50 for construction and £50 for contents. I dont understand this when its the one policy I pay for and the building and contents are under the one policy.

is this right?

Answer: Yes, they are break apart policy's, it will be in the small print..

Home Insurance No Claims?

For the background 3 years I have lived on business premises and had business insurance in joint names with my partner. We made 2 claims. Also I let a idiosyncrasy out for 7 years and had landlords insurance on which I made one claim. I am now selling up and moving into my own home so need buildings and contents insurance in my name. Have I lost my no claims reduction that I had accrued prior to moving into my own business where I had never claimed on personal contens and buildings insurance in my

Answer: Residential oddity has its own no claims bonus assoiated with it, so your business NCD will not apply in this case.

To be quite honest, the insurance deal in right now is cut throat. Companies will give you a very good introductory discount to get you on board in the first place. This will quite out weigh the discount you would recieve in the first place. I wouldnt take any notice of discounts, they are all a fad anyway!!!
